Ulcerative Colitis

Supplements studied for ulcerative colitis.

Overview

Several supplements have been studied for ulcerative colitis with varying support. Phosphatidylcholine (medium ratings, five studies) may improve symptoms and help achieve remission at 1–4 g daily over three months. Resveratrol and Vitamin A also carry medium ratings, though resveratrol results are mixed across two small trials.

Curcumin (eight studies, low ratings) shows inconsistent benefit for remission and colonoscopic healing. Boswellia (low ratings) achieved remission rates similar to standard treatment in one study and reduced symptoms during remission in another.
