Kidney transplant

Supplements studied for kidney transplant.

Overview

Evidence for supplements after kidney transplant is limited, with both top entries rated low across two studies. Higher dietary Alpha-Linolenic Acid intake was associated with more than twice the risk of death from any cause compared with the lowest intake, though it is not clear if this is due to the fatty acid itself.

Quercetin alone has not been well studied; a supplement containing quercetin and curcumin starting soon after transplant improved early kidney function and lowered creatinine compared with placebo alongside usual anti-rejection medicines. See the evidence reviews below for details.
