Familial hypercholesterolemia
Supplements studied for familial hypercholesterolemia.
Overview
Familial hypercholesterolemia has one reviewed supplement: Garlic (WA 32; very low effect size, low evidence, medium trust; one study). In a small study of children with this genetic high-cholesterol condition, garlic extract did not improve cholesterol levels, other blood fats, or blood pressure over the trial period compared with baseline expectations for standard care.
Garlic was reported as safe but did not show lipid benefit in this group. No other supplements in this batch have evidence for familial hypercholesterolemia. See the heatmap and evidence reviews below for the complete entry.
