Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
Supplements studied for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
Overview
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) has four reviewed supplements, all with low to medium trust. Melatonin (WA 40; low effect size, evidence, and trust; one study) at 3 mg at bedtime for eight weeks may ease heartburn and stomach pain, though omeprazole 20 mg twice daily worked better in the same research.
Aloe vera syrup (WA 44) improved symptoms over four weeks in one small unblinded trial but less than common GERD medications such as omeprazole or ranitidine. Quercetin and Zinc have insufficient evidence in this batch. See the heatmap and evidence reviews below for all four entries.
