Longevity

Supplements studied for longevity.

Overview

Vitamin D has medium-strength evidence for longevity. Vitamin D3 supplementation may slightly lower death risk in older adults over five years, particularly from cancer, though other vitamin D forms do not show the same benefit. Vitamin D3 with calcium may increase kidney stone risk.

N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) has insufficient evidence from two studies. An Astragalus-based supplement increased telomere length and telomerase activity over six months in healthy middle-aged adults with no reported side effects, though long-term health effects are not established. The heatmap and evidence reviews below compare these supplements.
