Radiation-induced diarrhea

Supplements studied for radiation-induced diarrhea.

Overview

Berberine is the only supplement studied for radiation-induced diarrhea, with one small trial. Early evidence suggests berberine taken three times daily for two weeks may reduce the frequency and severity of diarrhea caused by abdominal or pelvic radiation compared with placebo. The study population and design limit how broadly these findings can be applied.
