Supplements studied for renal anemia.

Overview

L-Carnitine (1 study) is the only supplement studied for renal anemia. Some people on dialysis do not respond well to erythropoietin (EPO) for anemia treatment. In one small trial, taking L-carnitine 500 mg daily for three months helped improve anemia markers in these patients.
