Dental plaque

Supplements studied for dental plaque.

Overview

Dental plaque has one reviewed supplement: Apple Cider Vinegar (WA 44; low effect size, low evidence, medium trust; one study). A small trial in young children with cerebral palsy tested daily application of 5% apple cider vinegar to teeth for six months and found greater plaque reduction than brushing without toothpaste.

The study had design limitations, so results may not be reliable and evidence remains insufficient for routine use. See the heatmap and evidence reviews below for the complete rating and study detail.
