Supplements studied for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Overview

Four supplements are indexed for inflammatory bowel disease (5 studies), all at WA 40 with low ratings. Iron (2 studies) may be absorbed better via IV than oral iron during active IBD flares, though IV iron carried a higher infection risk in one analysis. Beta-Glucan (1 study) was tested only in a multi-ingredient formula with possible symptom benefit.

Kefir and Multivitamin each have single trials with insufficient or null results for IBD outcomes. Evidence remains limited across all four. See the evidence reviews below.
