Oropharyngeal cancer
Supplements studied for oropharyngeal cancer.
Overview
Vitamin B9 (Folate) is the only supplement listed for oropharyngeal cancer, with low-strength evidence from one study. Adequate folate intake from food, fortification, or supplements may be associated with roughly one-third lower throat cancer risk at intakes of about 260–820 micrograms daily, with stronger associations for mouth cancers and heavy alcohol use.
This is observational evidence only and does not prove folate prevents cancer. Low ratings across all dimensions reflect the limited data.
