Orthostatic hypotension

Supplements studied for orthostatic hypotension.

Overview

All listed supplements have low-strength evidence for orthostatic hypotension. Hawthorn (WA 52; low effect size, high evidence, medium trust) in a combination product (Korodin) may reduce blood pressure drops and symptoms like dizziness in older adults, though the product was not studied alone. Yohimbe (WA 48; low effect size, medium evidence, medium trust) showed mixed results—single-dose yohimbine raised blood pressure in some people but not in nerve-related cases.

Alpha-Lipoic Acid (WA 40; low effect size, evidence, and trust) may reduce blood pressure changes in some patients over about two years in limited research. Vitamin D (WA 32; very low effect size, low evidence, medium trust) did not reduce orthostatic hypotension in one older-adult trial. The heatmap and evidence reviews below summarize trials.
