Muscular Dystrophy
Supplements studied for muscular dystrophy.
Overview
L-Citrulline at 5 g three times daily with or without metformin improved six-minute walk distance and reduced muscle damage in one small Becker muscular dystrophy study over six weeks. In Duchenne muscular dystrophy, lower doses over six months did not slow overall decline but helped some children with milder disease.
Selenium daily for six months did not improve Duchenne muscular dystrophy in a small trial. Taurine over six months may improve muscle relaxation after use, though evidence is very limited. See the heatmap and evidence reviews below for details.
