Binge eating disorder
Supplements studied for binge eating disorder.
Overview
Two supplements are indexed for binge eating disorder across two studies, both with low ratings (WA 40) for effect size, evidence, and trust.
A small chromium trial using 600 or 1000 mcg daily for six months in overweight adults reported trends toward fewer binge episodes, weight loss, and less depression, but differences were not statistically significant due to the small number of participants. A 12-person inositol trial using 18 grams daily reported improved eating-disorder symptoms versus placebo, with mild stomach side effects.
Both findings need confirmation in larger trials. See the evidence reviews below for details.
