Body composition

Supplements studied for body composition.

Overview

Three supplements are indexed for body composition across five studies, all with low ratings (WA 40) for effect size, evidence, and trust.

Beta-Alanine supplementation at doses of roughly 1.6 to 6.4 grams daily for up to 10 weeks does not appear to change body weight, fat, or muscle mass, despite its endurance benefits. Yohimbe at 20 mg daily for three weeks reduced body fat in professional soccer players without changing overall weight, muscle size, or exercise performance; no side effects were reported in that study.

Boron has limited indexed evidence with no summary available. See the heatmap and evidence reviews below for details.
