Overview
Selenium is the only supplement studied for premature rupture of membranes (PROM), with one trial. In that study, women who took 100 mcg of selenium daily throughout pregnancy had fewer cases of PROM than those who received placebo. However, it is not yet certain whether selenium supplementation reliably prevents early breaking of the amniotic membranes.
