Supplements studied for thyroid cancer.
Overview
Two supplements have been studied in relation to thyroid cancer, both with limited evidence. Nattokinase-related research has examined dietary patterns including soy foods, finding that soy does not appear to increase thyroid cancer risk and may be part of broader dietary factors affecting risk. Vitamin D supplementation after thyroid surgery was linked to lower overall and cancer-related mortality over about 10 years in some research, though it did not lower death specifically from thyroid cancer.
