Neonatal jaundice

Supplements studied for neonatal jaundice.

Overview

Saccharomyces boulardii (WA 44; low effect size, low evidence, medium trust) has uncertain benefit for neonatal jaundice across two studies. One trial found slightly fewer full-term infants developing jaundice and fewer needing phototherapy; effects in premature or high-risk infants and combined use with light therapy are unclear. Nattokinase (WA 44; low effect size, low evidence, medium trust) has insufficient evidence from one study.

Neither supplement has consistent support for preventing or treating neonatal jaundice. Low ratings reflect the limited and inconclusive trial data available.
