Nipple fissure

Supplements studied for nipple fissure.

Overview

Aloe is the only supplement listed for nipple fissure, with low-strength evidence from one study in breastfeeding mothers. Applying aloe gel improved nipple scabbing but did not significantly improve redness, cracks, or peeling compared with usual care.

It remains uncertain whether aloe meaningfully helps nipple fissures during breastfeeding. A single trial with low ratings across all dimensions limits what can be concluded.
