Age-related Cognitive Decline
Supplements studied for age-related cognitive decline.
Overview
SupplementDEX indexes 29 supplements for age-related cognitive decline across 126 studies. Several carry medium ratings (WA 60), though findings differ by supplement.
Vitamin B9 (Folate), Acetyl-L-Carnitine, and Phosphatidylserine may help memory and thinking in older adults with mild decline, based on multiple trials. Panax Ginseng is rated medium but often studied in combination products, so ginseng-specific effects remain uncertain.
Ginkgo also carries a medium rating, yet most research shows it does not improve or prevent age-related memory loss in larger, longer trials. Overall evidence is mixed and supplement-specific. See the heatmap and evidence reviews below for ratings across all indexed supplements.
