Overview
Only N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) is indexed for hepatorenal syndrome (1 study; WA 40; low effect size, low evidence, low trust). A small report evaluated intravenous NAC in people with this condition, where kidney and liver function both decline.
NAC appeared to improve kidney function slightly and was linked to longer survival in that report, but it did not help liver function or blood pressure. With only one small study available, it remains unclear whether NAC is beneficial, and more studies are needed. See the evidence review below.
