Overview
Vitamin B3 (Niacin) is the only supplement indexed for hyperphosphatemia (3 studies; WA 48; low effect size, medium evidence, medium trust). High blood phosphorus is common in people on dialysis, and early studies tested oral niacin without phosphate binders.
Some trials at 375–750 mg daily for eight weeks reported lower phosphorus and higher calcium, but other small studies found only minor drops or no effect at all. It remains unclear whether niacin meaningfully lowers phosphorus in routine care. See the evidence reviews below.
