Overview
Methionine is the only supplement indexed for hot flashes (1 study; WA 32; very low effect size, low evidence, medium trust). One trial evaluated L-methionine taken by mouth daily for several months during menopause and compared outcomes with placebo.
Women who received methionine experienced no better relief of hot flashes than those given placebo. With a single negative trial and low evidence ratings, supplement benefit for hot flashes is not supported in this dataset. See the evidence review below.
