Cancer-related fatigue
Supplements studied for cancer-related fatigue.
Overview
Several supplements have been explored for cancer-related fatigue, with mixed but notable signals. Guarana may moderately reduce tiredness based on a recent review of studies in 229 patients, though trial heterogeneity limits certainty.
American Ginseng shows inconsistent results across doses and durations, with one trial reporting roughly half the fatigue of placebo at 1000 mg twice daily for eight weeks while others found no benefit. Panax Ginseng and Astragalus have early supportive findings in small or uncontrolled studies; SAMe appeared to lessen fatigue during colorectal cancer chemotherapy in one trial.
