Complex regional pain syndrome
Supplements studied for complex regional pain syndrome.
Overview
Vitamin C is the main supplement studied for complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), with 10 trials mostly following wrist fracture. Daily vitamin C at roughly 500–1500 mg for about 50 days may lower CRPS risk in some studies, though results are not uniform across trials.
Intravenous Magnesium given for five days did not improve pain or disability in chronic CRPS type 1 compared with placebo in one trial. Preventive vitamin C evidence remains promising but not definitive. See the heatmap and evidence reviews below for trial detail.
