Chemotherapy-related fatigue
Supplements studied for chemotherapy-related fatigue.
Overview
Ashwagandha is the only supplement with a trial for chemotherapy-related fatigue in this database. In one early breast cancer study, 2 g of ashwagandha root powder three times daily during chemotherapy was associated with less fatigue than no additional treatment over the study period.
That trial lacked a placebo control group, so placebo effects, expectation bias, and other unmeasured factors cannot be ruled out. Larger randomized, blinded studies would be needed to confirm whether ashwagandha meaningfully reduces chemotherapy-related fatigue. See the evidence review below for trial details.
