Choroideremia
Supplements studied for choroideremia.
Overview
Lutein 20 mg daily for six months was tested in one choroideremia trial indexed here. Supplementation raised ocular pigment levels over the treatment period but did not improve measured vision during that short six-month follow-up window.
Whether longer-term lutein use might preserve or improve eyesight in choroideremia remains unknown and would require additional controlled trials with extended monitoring. No other supplements are listed for this inherited retinal condition in this database. See the evidence review below for trial specifics.
