Overview
Selenium disulfide shampoo (2 studies) has unclear benefit for seborrheic dermatitis. One large study without a comparison group suggested that using the shampoo two to three times weekly for four weeks improved scalp flaking and redness. A smaller trial found weekly use for eight weeks after other treatments lowered relapse and improved redness and itching, though it did not reduce loose dandruff.
Biotin (1 study) taken orally does not appear to help babies with seborrheic dermatitis. See the heatmap and evidence reviews below.
