Social anxiety disorder
Supplements studied for social anxiety disorder.
Overview
Evidence for supplements in social anxiety disorder is limited to a single small study of St. John's Wort. Taking 600–1800 mg daily for 12 weeks did not improve social anxiety symptoms more than placebo, suggesting oral St. John's Wort is unlikely to help this condition based on current data.
St. John's Wort carries low effect-size and evidence ratings, with medium trust in this negative finding. With only one trial and one supplement studied, the evidence base is very narrow. The heatmap and evidence reviews below provide further detail on the available trial.
