SupplementDEX

Smoking cessation

Supplements studied for smoking cessation.

Overview

Supplement research for smoking cessation is very limited, with only two small studies identified. Early research found that SAMe at 400 or 800 mg twice daily for eight weeks did not help people quit smoking compared with placebo. Ashwagandha has also been studied once, though detailed outcome data are not summarized here.

Both supplements carry low effect-size, evidence, and trust ratings. The current data do not support any supplement as effective for smoking cessation. See the heatmap and evidence reviews below for individual trial details.
