Overview
Vitamin E is the only supplement studied for surgical scars, applied topically in two trials. Vitamin E ointments did not improve surgical scar appearance more than placebo creams in either study, suggesting topical vitamin E is not effective for scar cosmesis.
Vitamin E carries low effect-size and evidence ratings with medium trust in this negative finding. With only two small trials, the evidence is limited but consistently unfavorable. See the heatmap and evidence reviews below for trial details.
