Stomach Ulcers

Supplements studied for stomach ulcers.

Overview

Zinc is the only supplement studied for stomach ulcers, with four trials suggesting possible benefit. Oral zinc acexamate may help treat and prevent peptic ulcers, performing better than placebo and about as well as some H2-receptor antagonists. It is unclear whether other zinc formulations are equally effective.

Zinc carries medium effect-size, evidence, and trust ratings based on these studies. While results appear encouraging, the evidence focuses on a specific zinc compound. The heatmap and evidence reviews below provide further trial detail.
