Overview
Saccharomyces boulardii (2 studies) is the only supplement studied for small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). One small trial found that S. boulardii added to metronidazole improved SIBO clearance in people with systemic sclerosis compared with the antibiotic alone. Another trial in patients with SIBO and irritable bowel syndrome found no added benefit over dietary advice alone, though that study may have been underpowered.
