Sperm quality
Supplements studied for sperm quality.
Overview
Maca is the only supplement studied for sperm quality, with two trials yielding mixed results. In healthy men, 1.5–3 g daily for four months may improve sperm volume, count, and movement. However, when tested in men with infertility, maca did not improve sperm concentration and results were inconsistent across outcomes.
Maca carries low effect-size, evidence, and trust ratings overall. Whether benefits apply beyond healthy men or translate to fertility outcomes remains unclear. The heatmap and evidence reviews below offer further trial-level detail on both studies.
